Board Rules

Quote:

  • Trading and selling. Trading and selling of items is not allowed on Tech-Unity without the prior permission of the Administrators.  Trading and selling items is one of the quickest ways to violate a copyright restriction, and we won't have anything to do it. We will edit offending posts or delete them entirely if necessary to keep this type of activity out of our message forums.
  • Braindumps. We define 'braindumps' as the practice of copying and sharing actual certification exam questions in violation of copyright law and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). Posting braindumps, links to them, or asking for them in our discussion forums is expressly forbidden. We will edit offending posts or delete them entirely if necessary to keep this type of activity out of our message forums.
  • Copyright Violation. Please do not post copyrighted text or material on our discussion boards. We are required by law to remove it immediately. Because of recent legal precedents in the United States where we are headquartered, we are also required by U.S. law to remove links to material on other sites that violate copyright.  We will edit offending posts or delete them entirely if necessary to keep this type of activity out of our message forums.
  • Flaming. Unreasonably abusive and threatening messages will be deleted. We will edit offending posts or delete them entirely if necessary to keep this type of activity out of our message forums.
  • Advertising. We tolerate advertising of other sites and services only if they are relevant to the discussion at hand. For example, if people are asking for free study guides for a particular exam and you are giving away a free study guide for this exam on your site, by all means, please post a link to it - we think this is wonderful. However, if we catch you littering our boards with off-topic posts intended to promote your Web site or product, we will simply delete them and block you from posting again in the future. We encourage those looking to advertise on our site to contact us - we can probably work something out with you.
  • Respect for fellow users. Um, what do we really need to say here...play nice...please.  :)
  • Links to kewl tools

We have found that these tools have come in handy when trying to troubleshoot an issue on a PC. These are all free and relatively small, so the 56k'ers don't have to worry. Please note that all links open in a new window.

    Spyware / Malware Removal Tools:
    • Microsoft's AntiSpyware
    • Lavasoft's Ad-Aware (Program that scans your system for spyware. There's a freeware version, but I recommend the paid version)
    • SpyBot S&D (Similar to Ad-Aware)
    • Pest Patrol (Another nice tool that is worth paying for)
    • LI Utilities (Another nice tool that is worth paying for)
    • HijackThis (use this to scan for possible spyware programs in your registry and malware. Also displays all services currentley running)
    • CCleaner (Crap Cleaner... check the link for more info)
    • Startup List generator (Similar to HijackThis, but only generates a text file of all startup files, services, etc)
    • CWS Shredder (searches for all known mutations of the CWS trojan)
    • Toolbar Cop (this utility can be used as a Quick-Solution to remove Toolbar, Toolbar icons, and BHOs)
    • SpywareBlaster (spywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed. By setting a "kill bit" for spyware ActiveX controls, SpywareBlaster can prevent the installation of any spyware ActiveX controls from a webpage. It does this while not interfering with "friendly" ActiveX controls - so your browser can work correctly and you can have peace of mind!)
    • Moosoft ( The Cleaner Professional is a system of programs designed to keep your computer and data safe from Trojans / Worms / Keyloggers / Spyware and all manner of malware.)
    • Kazaa Begone (uninstaller for Kazaa which scans and removes all elements of all Kazaa versions, as well as all of the bundled software that comes with it)
    • Spyware Gaurd (spywareGuard provides a real-time protection solution against spyware that is a great addition to SpywareBlaster's protection method. An anti-virus program scans files before you open them and prevents execution if a virus is detected - SpywareGuard does the same thing, but for spyware! And you can easily have an anti-virus program running alongside SpywareGuard)
    • Gator removal tool (Gator Adware Removal Tool enables network administrators to remove Gator from any machine on the network. Just type in the host name of the machine to scan. Requires Administrator access. Cannot be installed on Win XP Home Edition)
    • Alexa removal tool (Alexa Adware Removal Tool enables network administrators to remove Alexa from any machine on the network. Just type in the host name of the machine to scan. Requires Administrator access. Cannot be installed on Win XP Home Edition)
Online / Free Ant-Virus Programs: Misc. Tools: CD / DVD Burning Tools: Informational sites: Tech-Unity's Misc. Tools: If you have any you'd like to add, please PM Tomshawk.

    Search FAQ

    • Select this option if you would like your search to look in the text of FAQ items as well as their titles.

Select an option here to specify how you would like your search query to be treated. 'Any words' will return the most numerous but possibly least relevant results, while 'Complete phrase' will return only results that contain exactly what you are searching for.
